RE: Are You Joining With The Truckers?

I agree with trying to conserve oiland slowing down. I feel for the independent truckers. They are really hurting. Some of my trucker friends are passing off.as much as they can to their customers, It the same old song consumers you and me will end up paying in fuel charges. I dont think a boycot will work. I Dont know the anser but does anybody? Chuck.

RE: Loves Truckstop Rant!

I think Id be taking lowes to small claims court. Have them try to explain that how can you put 261 gl. of diesel fuel into a 90 gal. tank. Dont make sense to me. Maybe Im missing something. Their must be somekind of consumer protection. I know after reading this story I wont stop their. Good Luck Chuck

RE: WATER LEAK IN 2004 DUTCH STAR

I think you self diagnosed the problem. Check the cold line under the sink, check the connections at the faucet. If not their, check the line back to the city water connection. Also if its on a slide check the fittings. Good Luck Chuck.

RE: Mass to Florida, Class A EZ-Pass $ ?

The only toll going south is the ma toll. It depends on what route you take. I take the ma pike to 84 south to 81 then pick up 77 in va to 26 east to 95 south no tolls. The only one or two is in new york and ma going back north I find this is the best way to go. EZ pass works great. Just dont forget to put the pass in the toad in the little bag so it dont register. Good Luck Chuck

RE: Considering Purchase of 04 Newmar Dutchstar

We have an 04 DS model 4009. Its on a spartan chasis with a 370 cummins. We had a few issues with ours. The major one was ride. It was solved with larger tires. It had a few other issues but nothing major all under warentee. I dont know what the ccc is on a freightliner chasis but maybe someone on the Newmar site will know. Also try and get all maintenece records you can. In the four years that I had my DS I have 24000 miles on mine. Good luck Chuck

RE: New 2006 purchase

My 2 cents it still has a new warrentee. I would do a search as to any recalls that cummins or spartan has had in that year. 40% off is pretty good. Like someone else posted you can buy a lot of batteries and tires. If you reggisterd that MH in my state you would save 2 years of exsise tax too. Good Luck Chuck

RE: Fuel mileage Diesel Pusher

I agree with Brett on miliage, we all drive different, I know one thing I just finished a 4500 mile trip from Boston to San Antonio, Texas then across to Florida and back to Boston. We have an 04DS 370 cummins we got 7.8 average for the whole trip traveling 65 to 70 mph. Good Luck Chuck Oh we tow a saturn too

RE: When staying in one place, do you run your engine?

I take my MH 04 DS 370cummins for a 20 to 30 mile run once a month. Its better to not run the MH at idle speedfor long periond of time. Its in youre mannuel by cummins. I also run my genset and check batteries. I have left my mh for up to 3 months doing nothing but running the genset, inclement weather, so far so good. good luck Chuck
